Meet the Professor: Frank von Hippel

In this 7-minute video, UAA biology professor and aquatic ecotoxicologist Dr. Frank von Hippel explains how endocrine-disrupting compounds in the environment are turning stickleback fish into hermaphrodites, and why humans might care. Answer: our hormone system is very similar to that of the stickleback fish. His research is being funded by the NIH and includes three other professors.
